Brdy, our highest inland mountain range, will enchant you with its local nature with deep forests, hidden ponds and mountain peaks. The places where the network of tourist and bicycle signs leads today were banned until 2016, as most of the mountains belonged to a military district. It was established here as early as 1926 and the foot of a civilian practically did not penetrate here. Therefore, some corners of Brdy still remain few discovered places. This year, the Bohemian Karst Protected Landscape Area will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The protected landscape area of ​​the Bohemian Karst was declared on April 12, 1972, covering an area of ​​130 km2. The landscape of the Bohemian Karst is characterized by varied relief, mainly due to the erosive activity of the Berounka and its tributaries. Karst canyons, ravines and caves or cave systems are especially well known. There are almost 700 caves in the Bohemian Karst, of which only ten are longer than 300 meters.
