Halouny is part of the municipality of Svinaře and partly lies within the Hřebeny nature park at the foot of the Brdy hills; the Halounský brook runs through the village. Until 1848 it belonged to the Liteň estate. In the 1920s the area was a favourite with Czech “trampers” (outdoor enthusiasts), who built settlements nearby – the best known was El Paso by the quarry lake. Three marked hiking trails meet in Halouny: the blue trail from Řevnice to Liteň runs through the village, and the yellow trail branches off to Zadní Třebaň and Karlštejn, continuing on the green trail to Kytín. On the yellow trail stands a statue of St Isidore. Trip ideas: the Bohemian Karst, the Velká Amerika quarry, Karlštejn Castle, the Berounka valley and places linked to the writer Ota Pavel, the Koněprusy Caves, Svinaře Château, Mníšek pod Brdy Château, the Rotunda of St Martin in Karlík, Dobříš Château, Aquapark Beroun and the Studený vrch lookout tower.
If you want a great view and a proper climb, this is your trip. It takes you to the lookout tower on Studený vrch (660 m). The route suits mountain and trekking bikes, with more than 350 m of climbing.
The impregnable seat of Emperor Charles IV – where women were reputedly not allowed, so that nothing would disturb the ruler's statecraft and theological reflection – was founded in 1348 as a safe for the crown jewels, holy relics and state documents.
Where the film Lemonade Joe was shot, but also once the final destination of inconvenient political prisoners: the Velká and Malá Amerika limestone quarries. Come and discover the beauty of the Bohemian Karst, Karlštejn and the surrounding area.
Serious swimming in a 25 m pool, relaxation in leisure pools with loungers and a seasonal sun terrace, and fun on the slides, including two flumes.
The family-run Kytín microbrewery is in the village of the same name in the Brdy foothills. They brew with heart, using honest traditional methods, and have won several awards.
